Selecting The Correct Test
ELTS Academic and IELTS General Training are the two examinations available. The test you take should be tailored to your objectives.
IELTS Academic – determines if your English language proficiency is appropriate for an academic setting. It examines whether you’re ready to begin training or studying by reflecting characteristics of academic language.
IELTS General Training – assesses English language ability in a real-world setting. Both working and social circumstances are reflected in the tasks and tests.
You may need to take the IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Academic or General Training or the IELTS for Life Skills test to support a UK visa application to work, live, or study in the UK.
IELTS TEST FORMAT
Test takers who are familiar with the IELTS format have an advantage. Make sure you understand how the IELTS test works.
IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training are the two examinations available. Both exams are assessed in the same manner.
On the same day, you’ll take the first three components of the test in the following order: Listening, Reading, and Writing (there are no breaks between these tests). Your Speaking test will be held either one-two days prior to the main test day or one-two days subsequent to the main test day
